Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of electronic devices such as computers, tablets, smart phones, cell phones, digital billboards, and game consoles to engage with consumers and other business partners. Internet Marketing a major component of digital marketing.
Digital marketing is a marketing process which leads to the development of any organization or brand by using a variety of digital channels such as email, social networks etc.

Facebook, Google, Twitter, SEO, eMail Flyers, Youtube, Blogs, Groupons, Mobile Apps etc… have already become trending concepts among the corporate world as well as the business professionals in Sri Lanka. This emerging trend shows the marketers where their customers are and where the competitors are heading to. It also necessitates them to make their online presence felt.  It is increasingly becoming evident that today’s business world, which is backed by digital technologies, are breaking the barriers created by the traditional marketing theories and practices. It is moving towards a new era of marketing, creating extraordinary opportunities for both big and small companies.

But when compare to the global situation Sri Lanka is still far away from development because of different kinds of barriers such as; infrastructure, technical knowledge and so on…Not only that, there are some peoples who still believes in traditional marketing. They do not like to change their mind.
But now there is a digital marketing trend in Sri Lankan society. Therefore everybody tries to catch up with it. To create a digital revolution, as marketers we have a huge responsibility because we have the power to influence consumers mind without them knowing.

In conclusion I can say we are in the game with a lot of obstacles on the way!!!!
We can only hope for a better outcome.
